Here's a list of my most asked questions folks want to know before they schedule an appliance repair service with me. 🙂
While I know a lot about appliances and how to diagnose them there are literally thousands of models out there. And everything always changes with every new year. I need to use your model number to research your particular appliance before your appointment so I can come out armed with the technical data I need and the parts that I think could be failing. I'm coming out with a goal in mind to fix your stuff 🙂 not just look at it. 🙃
Every appliance has a sticker or tag on it with the model number. They are generally accessible without having to pull the appliance out, but you may have to use a flashlight.

I don't do any installs. I recommend calling a handyman. Someone well versed in carpentry, electrical and plumbing. Installing an appliance and repairing them is 2 different skillsets.
Installing appliances many times requires carpentry skills in order to both make the appliance fit in it's space and also to make sure it looks nice when finished.
Repairmen are more skilled at mechanical things and machines.
I'm a lifelong mechanic. I can fix your stuff like nobody's business. And though I've been doing all the maintenance and remodeling in my own homes for all my life, I'm the last guy in the world you'd want to pay for any carpentry work 🙂 🤷🏻♂️
One more thing. Don't let the furniture delivery guys do your installs. either. If you didn't buy it from a dedicated appliance store with guys that do installs for a living then don't let the truck driver install your stuff. Driving trucks and lifting heavy furniture is their skillset. If they knew anything about carpentry, plumbing or electrical chances are they would be working in a much more lucrative career field 🤷🏻♂️
Almost every single appliance that I have ever seen in my very long career that flooded a house because of a bad install was installed by a furniture delivery driver.
Unfortunately I Can't Work On Everything.

This is just as of January 1, 2024, Sorry, this is a long time coming and I'm just tired of putting out all the dumpster fires they can cause. 🤷🏻♂️ I don't have any recommendations for you. Good Luck 🍀 My best advice is to keep it simple when you purchase a refrigerator. It just needs to keep your food fresh and maybe make a little ice. That's it. It's my theory that the biggest killer of today's refrigerators is the placement of the ice maker. The ice maker belongs in the depths of the freezer. Not in the fresh food section. Not in the freezer door. Not in the refrigerator door. It belongs INSIDE THE FREEZER COMPARTMENT. It's when they started relocating the icemaker a decade or so ago that I started seeing all the early/frequent/repeated failure problems start popping up. All the frequently repeated failures that today's refrigerators have not only makes them unprofitable to work on but also many times creates a customer misconception of the repair person that's stuck in your kitchen holding the manufacturer's bag. That's never a good thing. Word of mouth and customer perception is everything. Since about 2015 I've just watched it get worse and worse and spread throughout all the brands and I decided in 2023 that it brought me down too much in both productivity and profitability and it was time to cut those strings.
I am a mobile service business with a crew of me. I'm just not set up to sell parts. Locally I recommend Marcone Supply or Dey Distributing. They’re both in Lenexa.
In a word, no.
I'm basically a retail parts salesman. That's how I make my living. I buy all my Original Equipment Appliance Parts at wholesale prices and I sell them to you at the price that my local distributor says is the Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price.
This is my business model and I don't deviate from it at all.
OEM Parts are all I use. Aftermarket parts are junk and shouldn't ever be used. Ever. I've learned many hard lessons over the years trying to use that stuff. I don't want to be going back to someone's house in a month and that happens a lot with aftermarket parts. It's a lousy business model to use aftermarket appliance parts if you plan on standing behind your work. They fail often and the fail early.
If you're doing this repair yourself don't be cheap and buy any of the very low priced junk on Amazon. Been there. Done that. Just go to Marcone Supply or Dey Distributing in Lenexa and spend the money on the OEM appliance parts. Chances are one of those 2 appliance repair parts stores will have what you want in stock. You'll be glad you did. It's seriously ridiculous how much longer OEM appliance parts last compared to aftermarket appliance parts. 🤯
Everyone is happy when the repair can be completed on the first trip, and honestly it makes me more profitable as well, so I work hard with that as my goal. My decades of experience enables me to keep a smart inventory of more commonly needed parts, and I will bring along anything I have on hand that I feel might be needed for your repair based on your brand, model #, and problem description.
The more information I get from you the more prepared to complete your repair I'll be.
However there’s just no way to honestly offer a one trip guarantee. Some calls do require a second trip. It’s just how it goes sometimes. When that happens you will be charged the $85.00 diagnostics fee for the first trip. That fee is additional and will not be absorbed into the cost of your completed repair.
My normal service call and diagnostic fee, if no repair is performed, is $85.00. After diagnosing your machine, I’ll quote you one flat price that will include all parts, and all fees, so you know ahead of time exactly what the cost is. If you choose to do the repair, this will be the total amount you will owe that day. If you decide not to have the repair done, then you will only owe the diagnostic/service call fee and sales tax. Additional appliances will incur diagnostic fees of $45-$85 each depending on the complexity of the troubleshooting.
Yes! Absolutely! That's one of the things that the tens of thousands of my appliance repair customers in Johnson County I've serviced over the years have always loved about me. With good information from you I'm very good at triage without even seeing the appliance that is not working. That's why I'm so successful at completing quality appliance repairs in just one trip and why sometimes I might seem a little pushy to get the information I need 🤭 It's for the good of both of us 🙂 It's a win-win situation for both of us. ✌🏼
But there's 2 catches....
1. Although I am very seasoned at this I simply can't ever make any kind of guarantee for any machine diagnosis I do without physically seeing it in person.
2. In order for me to accurately diagnose an appliance repair I need a good model number and a good description of any symptoms it is having. Including any error codes it may have displayed. Please tell me the symptoms. i.e. "it won't drain the water" instead of what you think the problem is i.e. "it needs a pump"

I'm a one man company. I have to do everything around here. 🙂 Even maintain this website. 🤷🏻♂️ There's only so many hours in the day and back when I chatted on the phone with everybody I worked all of them.
The world has changed, There's too many ways to get a hold of me now and that just makes me even more behind on all of them. 🤷🏻♂️ I can't keep up with it all 👴🏼 Since I instituted the rule where you have to text me it just plain cut my work day in half and I can manage the information flow much better.
I can answer any questions you have through a message. And the scheduling platform that all of my messages are forever linked to is extremely user friendly and easy to use. 🙂 Pinky Swear 🤙
If you absolutely have to chat with someone on the phone then I'm afraid I'm just not a good fit for you. I'm very sorry. But I promise that I still love you and appreciate you nonetheless and sincerely hope that you would please reconsider. 🫶🏼
Many appliance repair companies big and small use this confusing term. I call it a "gimmick." I've never liked doing that. Makes me feel dirty. I feel that the words "waived" or "free" is a bit of creative and misleading word play only to get you to book the service call. I’ve never been comfortable with this type of marketing which is standard in the appliance repair service industry. Rest assured my pricing is fair, accurate, and competitive. I use very typical national flat rate guidelines that many appliance repair companies around the country use to price your repair.
Every appliance repair service call is unique with lots of variables that affect timing, so the tightest time range I can give people is a 2 hour window, since I am usually coming to your home after one or more other jobs. I always give you a courtesy text as I am heading over to your home so that you will know that I'm on my way. I try my best to make it all as convenient as possible for you! 🙂
